Love this place. The offer a wide variety of pastries, breads, cookies, cakes, and other delicious treats. You can also order beautifully decorated cakes for special occasions such as birthdays and weddings. Everything is very reasonably priced.
I went to Purdue, lived in Lafayette for nearly 5 years and missed out on the amazing bakery. After seeing this Mexican bakery featured on a PBS show, I had to stop in. This place has cases of breads, cookies, and pastries. Items are made fresh daily and the staff are very helpful when picking out a treat. I bought a ton of stuff including some swiss roll style cakes, a few cookies, and a loaf of bread. Everything was lovely, fresh, and refreshingly sweet without being over-powering like American pastries. I think six items were $8 total which in the days of $4 artisan doughnuts, is an incredible deal.
Mama Ines is fantastic. Great prices, and a great selection that changes. Highly recommend!
The baked goods were got there were really good.
We took our son here as a reward for good behavior. We normally do ice cream, but it's winter. We were blown away by the selection and how cheap everything was. We filled a heaping tray full of baked goodies and bought a couple sodas and it was only $20!The cheesecake cupcakes were our favorite, our son preferred the giant sugar cookie.Quick tip if you've never been, inside the doors there are some silver trays and a bucket full of tongs. You use the tongs to fill your tray from the cases along the walls, then take it to the register to pay. We weren't sure our first time. They also do amazing cakes, be sure to check them out. The decorations are amazing just to look at.
The best tamales I have ever had in Indiana. So happy to have found this place. I love it.
Amazing pastries. Love their tres leches cake. They are so low priced. It's value for money.
I'm South American and it was delightful to find so many foods I used to have at home that either don't exist here or just aren't the same. The price is so good, I would pay even more for the things they have but a lot of the items are around 1$-2$ dollars. The corn cake/bread is one of the best I've ever had in life, moist and golden. The tres leches cake is amazing as well, not too much with the strawberry filling but that's personal. They have sodas like Jarritos as well and the breads are amazing. I still haven't had the chance to try the tamales but the whole place always smells like them and it's mouth watering.
Mexican Bakery in Lafayette. You will find the interior decor interesting. Theirs tres leches ( 3 kinds of milk) cake is absolutely delicious. If you want to buy birthday cake remember to order early. The store normally does not have the mid size cake.
The tamales are delicious! And the bakery is full of authentic goodness!
The manager was extremely helpful as we had a bunch of questions. Great baked goods and awesome tamales. Friendly staff.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Prices were great! We purchased tamales, empanadas and churro and everything was good.
Love this bakery. The best in town.
Pastries as big as your head!! When in Lafayette, must stop here!
Always tasty! So happy to have a place like this near me!
Great place Love it we will be back
Omg.... when we lived in California years ago, we liked going to the Mexican Bakery. I just came to Mama Ines Mexican Bakery and was blown away by the size of the bakery, the huge assortment of baked goods and hot food. I just spent $25 and for the most part just walked thru and picked items up to take back to Tennessee!! The syaff was awesome to, they explained what a couple things are and I just blindly picked the rest. No matter what, I know I won't be disappointed. P.S. the picture of the pastries on the tray are only a few of my assortment. 😁
Low prices and great service. Pastries on the other hand are not top quality. Worth a visit but don't have high expectations.
Mama Ines has a huge selection of baked goods, but contrary to the name of the joint, they also have tamales, burritos, and gorditas. I've tried just about everything and so far it is all delicious. One thing they need to improve on is that the prices are not posted anywhere, except for the delicacies up front, like the tamales.
Got here round 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. Got two things:1) Pastry coated with sesame seeds and stuffed with cheese and jalapeños. This was good, but had gotten a bit stale and dry - perhaps it had been out for a while? The cheese was yummy.2) Marble cake with chocolate coating and sprinkles - again, the cake was quite dry and didn't have the usual marble cake flavor. Wouldn't recommend this. Have to say overall, wasn't very impressed with the stuff we got. The ambience and aesthetics of the place is really quirky and different, and very helpful service. Would I go back? I'd like to try out a few more of their stuff but I think I'll go earlier in the day when things are more likely to be fresh.
Friendly people and great pastries! Highly recommend you visit this place.
The pastries are wonderful. They are just so nice.
Great selection of baked goods and a few other hard to find items. Friendly service. Will be back!
First time i bought tres leches and this was real good!
Tres leches and tamales were yum. Bday cakes are also always good!
Overall the aesthetic of the place is great. However, we ordered a mocha cake for a baptism and when we got to the venue with the taped box we were shocked to find out (after cutting it) that it was not in fact the flavor we ordered. There’s no excuse for them simply explaining that they couldn’t have that flavor/type of cake during these times. Simply put we bought a cake and they didn’t deliver with our expectations. They could have told us and we would’ve understood or could have taken our business elsewhere. Will not be ordering any special event cakes from here anymore.
This is a place where you grab a tray and set of tongs, and load up with all the yummy breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods you want and then cash out at the cashier. There was also a small amount of hot food available. It looked like there was a banquet area available for hosting events, but this didn't look like a casual eat in sort of place. The items I got (some cookies and pastries for a pitch in at work) were wonderfully tasty, and I'm not normally a dessert sort of person.
I love the bread. All of the bread is good in my opinion. You can get from bread to cakes to tamales and burritos. It's a great place to grab a cake or order one in your preference.
Boricua!! If you are looking for a Bakery with pastries variety and that make you feel like in PR, this is your place!! It's a Mexican Bakery with Beautiful cakes for special occasions visible for you to order and you can have Tamales and other things too!! Extra clean, very nice employees!! Definetely I recommend this place!!
mama ines is my favorite place to stop everytime I'm down that way! they've got a little of everything, from their famous pan to tamales and gua frescas. they were very friendly and helped us feel safe while being there, helping by walking thru with us them getting the bread for us so we didn't have to touch anything.
This is a fantastic place! With unbelievable amount of decorations. The staff is friendly and welcomed us with warm greetings! There are a good variety of breads, cookies and cakes. They also had coffee and some burritos. There are trays at the entrance which you should pick and then choose whatever you want. The whole family liked it very much. Highly recommended.
We go to this bakery every time we take my mom to her sister's house in Kentucky
Good bread, but the prices are a little bit high.
Pan dulce that reminds me of home. Love this place. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Their sweet bread is delicious, as well as their tamales!
Watched one of the workers drop a churro on the ground and throw it back on top of the other churros in the case... as I was about to grab some churros... not anymore. Food tastes good but pretty gross if that's their standards
This is my favorite bakery! So many choices at very reasonable prices!Update: Thank you for making my very adorable birthday cake!!!!!
Cakes like no other.....thank you for your unique flavor
Wonderful authentic tamales made by mama Inez herself! A wide variety of baked good at great prices!
The service and food is amazing. My favorite bakery in town. They provided the pasteries for my wedding two days ago and they were a big hit!
Affordable prices and really good quality on all baked goods. Tamales are okay but are more corn mush then meat, but they are okay for the price. But staff is very friendly and there specialty cakes look amazing!
The experience was fun & can't wait to go again!! The friend I went with was familiar with the establishment, however it was his first time, so that made it even more exciting. The prices are reasonable, variety is more than I could handle because I wanted to get everything.I'm looking forward to going back again to try the different drinks.
Very friendly atmosphere and amazing prices as well as gourmet desserts with the feeling of homemade. Locally owned, very nice.
Amazing place. Unique bakery with lots of varieties. Tastes soooo good. Decoration is also excellent.
I have been here many times and really enjoyed it. I once thought they had the best tamales in town. On my most recent trip I purchased 10 tamales. Exited and hungry I rushed home to devour them. I was finishing my first one and noticed a long black hair. I disregarded as things can happen. Then in my second tamale I found two more hairs. At first I thought maybe it was just corn silk, however these hairs still had the follicle attached! I am truly dissapointed that this happened at one my favorite places. They got 2 stars because the staff is friendly and the food tasted great aside from the hair. Major disappointment.
Little slow in service but the cakes are good
The bakery has a really wide selection of goods from breads to cakes and donuts. The prices are fair and the quality of the food is high. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful and the bakery in general is well laid out. You can find everything in the establishment in English and Spanish, so it's easy to navigate. There's is a wide drink selection as well and there are burritos and tamales available at the register. I highly recommend going if you're looking for high quality baked goods and sweets.
Wonderful baked goods and juice bar, friendly staff
Excelent quality Mexican Breads, very original location and great service and prices.
food is amazing. cant beat prices. they do hot burritos and tomales. there are all kinds of sweets and baked breads. favorite is the chocolate mice at the counter. they are a chocolate dipped cake pop shaped like a mouse. we have been five time now and spectacular experience every time
Extremely lovely ambiance, with a wide variety of delicious items.
